Trestle

In many a picture of bridges
there's scaffolding aplenty,
connecting the arches and ridges
to load bearing pillars and the
foundations in the ditches.

This familiar construction, however,
in which so many roosting birds nestle,
craves different description whenever
architects speak of this vessle
and to definitionally sever,
they named this bridge style: Trestle.
